Sometimes it’s not this or that. Sometimes it’s both.
That’s why I’m pivoting my consulting business in the new year.
Thanks to The Upside‘s This or That campaign, I got to thinking about some things I’ve learned (or re-learned) about myself this year:
🤏 Less is more (except for the clutter on my desk, that’s just more)
🤯 Change is good (especially when it’s hard!)
🧘 Calm is REALLY good (family + Airbnb + eclipse == perfect vacay)
🍗 The best Thanksgiving turkey is the one I made on my smoker this year
🎤 I’m contractually obligated by my daughters to be a Swiftie
☕️ And it’s gotta be coffee in the morning (though tea at night is pretty nice too)
But the first one is something I’ve known for a long time…
_…and I cheated because it’s this AND that:
_💪 The human touch is what makes great technology greater 🦾
You know me from education, but much of my career has focused on technical enablement and high-tech learning. Whether redesigning a Computer Science program to make it more equitable and accessible, designing a more efficient and compliant medical practice for a psychologist, or just helping a client master their cell phone, creating a human-centric experience has always come first for me.
But it’s almost 2025, and way too much of our interaction with tech (and, unfortunately, tech support) still feels overwhelming.
**Let’s fix that.
**
**Let’s bring the human experience front and center in how we learn and use technology.
**
**Let’s make high-tech compatible with the humans who use it.
**
That’s the core of the new business I’m building. It’s about embracing the potential of AI and high-tech tools, simultaneously embracing the challenges of the people who use them, and helping humans unlock the potential of their technology.
So: high-tech vs. human touch? It’s not this or that. It’s both! 💪🦾
