For more than twenty years I've worked in the space between people and the technology that's supposed to help them.
("Supposed to." Tech doesn't always make things easier.)
In that space, for that long, you notice that the conversation often goes one of two ways. Tech optimism or tech concerns. AI will enhance human ingenuity or AI will make humans obsolete.
Pick a side.
I pick the human side, which means also picking tech. Because finding the nuance and balance between the two is the key to finding our way forward.
That's how I think, and why I named this newsletter Both/And.
High-human AND high-tech, not one versus the other. Let's embrace how these tools elevate us AND protect what makes us human. Both are achievable together.
So here's what you'll find in your inbox.
- Thoughts on living and working in a high-tech world without losing its human factors. Not hot takes or jargon. Deep thoughts from a trusted tech ally.
- News worth knowing. Much of the tech news doesn't affect you. I'll point out the parts that do.
- A heads-up whenever there's something you should know about. A risk worth watching, a tool worth trying, a change coming.
It'll show up most Tuesday mornings. I'll occasionally send extra editions for alerts (big risks or big things you should know about) but only when it's really urgent.
I'm writing mostly for small-business owners and solo-practitioners, because that's who I spend my days with. Small or solo medical practices. AI-curious consultants or small agencies. Small businesses who see the potential of AI or tech enhancements to build and scale. You carry more tech decisions on your shoulders than anyone gives you credit for, and you're feeling the overwhelm right now.
(But if you're just a regular human trying to make sense of all this, you're in the right place too.)
What's one way you're maintaining your high-human essence in this high-tech world? Hit reply and tell me. That's where I want to start.
